Dr. Valerie Truesdale
AASA Senior Vice President
Valerie Truesdale serves as AASA’s Senior Vice President, Leadership Network, leading professional learning. She previously served ten years as superintendent in Beaufort and Oconee Counties, SC, and as Chief Officer for Transformation and Technology at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, advancing personalized learning for 151,000 students. Valerie’s career includes roles as chief academic officer, deputy superintendent for the SC Department of Education, high school principal, and teacher. She is a Certified Educational Technology Leader (CETL) and Certified Education Technology Officer (CECTO), co-founded North Carolina’s CoSN chapter, and served six years on its board. A former SC Superintendent of the Year, past president of ASCD International, and Charlotte Business Journal CTO of the Year, Valerie currently serves on the NPBEA board. She holds a Ph.D. from USC, an MBA from Georgia State, and a B.A. in Education from Clemson University.
